Laptop with employee personal info stolen from Kiski Area School District (Pa.) administrator

The personal data of an unknown number of employees of the Kiski Area School District are at risk after a district laptop was stolen from an administrator’s car.

What types of personal information? Social Security numbers were included.

What was the response? The district sent a letter to teachers and administrators on Oct. 9, three days after the theft.

Details: The laptop was in the administrator’s car because she was planning to return to work.

The computer was password protected.

No district employee has reported an identity theft incident after the theft.

    I have several friends that have feceived letters from companies they previously worked for . All state they have had laptops stolen with their personel info on them. their are no records of police reports . I look for additional occurances on the internet. There are Hundredes of thousands of people that have received this letter or a similar one. WHY?????
